In India, women’s marriages are often arranged when they are quite young. After their weddings, they frequently find themselves trapped in difficult relationships, enduring horrific domestic abuse. The Kolkata Lighthouse Center Beautician School gives these women a skill, which translates into income for their family, and provides dignity and self-worth.
When they graduate from the program, the women receive an official diploma recognized by the state of West Bengal.
